English Language is about how we interact and engage with the world around us, decoding its many messages. We teach students to communicate ideas articulately and sensitively, considering the needs and perspectives of others, also to read with a critical eye, being attentive to bias and the ways others seek to influence us. Through English Literature we broaden our experience of the world, reading a wide range of diverse texts from different eras, cultures and traditions. We seek to develop a deeper understanding of humanity, encouraging students to engage with its perennially more difficult questions.
